Two weeks combined.
I missed one newsletter week so here are my two weeks before christmas. In which I got done a lot. From selling my first postcard to make newly styled TikToks.

Started this week a little bit better in regards to blog articles with writing the article for entire last week on Monday. Now I have to still post the one from week 46.
Aaand that fast it’s Sunday again
and I have not written a word. My postcards arrived at the Fachl in Celle, but I have not yet sold a single one. I heard the quality is not the best, but at least I tried. My fallback would be to gift them to a cafe or something.
But I made good progress on the app
I implemented a supabase edge function that calculates when a user can upload a new video again. That’s pretty cool I guess. And I fiddled with some RLS (Row level security) for this to work. This function can now be run every time a user uploads a video to a group. A small indicator then hints the user when the next video is overdue. The next thing I did for this is implementing a notification service. When I now add a row to my notifications table the users with the respective notifications token are notified. At least on Android. For iOS we still have no developer account. That means I was not able to implement notifications there.
I followed these instructions for that:
https://docs.expo.dev/push-notifications/sending-notifications-custom/
Yesterday evening I vibe coded a group details bottom sheet together. So people can modify there groups. I today have to look into it again to make sure from a logic perspective all cases are handed. For example, that admins or owners cannot leave a group. To not leave the group orphaned. And there is a user management section missing that I will implement. And I actually did so. Me and my friend went through our RLS if it makes sense, improved it and I implemented the entire group details page. Had an issue at the end with a return statement needing an RLS granted which was not there at time of the function execution. But I managed to solve it in the end.
And nex week comes up
But still the same blog article. I invested a lot of brain power last week into coding and I kinda feel it. Made good progress and now created a first draft of developer accounts on apple and google play. But I feel like it is still a long way to go until the first successful submission to the stores. I also downloaded the first real development build, notifications are working but you immediately find a lot of bugs and stuff that is not working super nicely. Will have to look into it. My goal for this week is to keep my TikTok game up, continue writing this newsletter and sending 10 marketing emails. To not get super lost into coding and neglecting everything else. The time will come when we can submit the app and it actually does not matter if it is a few weeks earlier or later.
And on top I got sick, needed to recover over Wednesday and Thursday. Let’s see if I’ll be able to do some stuff during family visits over christmas. And oh yeah! I have until now sold ONE postcard. Looks like I might have to give them away to cafés… one day later. I have sold eight now! this would make up for one week of paying for the shop real estate. And I had some creative fun this week in Davinci Resolve, watching other creators in my “space”, how they approach TikTok and researching for different fonts. I now have some nicer font overlay (to be improved over time) with piano music in the background. I try to select the music first and cut the videos a little bit to them. Then add some value with the font overlays. This is how my TikTok now looks:

And it got 52 likes! That is the most since a long time and it makes fun making them. Other than that it is Christmas time. So projects need to wait and I need to tame my inner monk that wants to code all the time.
See you next week! ✌🏽
